Hearing Gods Voice in a Chaotic World

Things are pretty shaky right now and I know many people are worried about how they will be affected by the economic climate.

How do you find peace when so many things are uncertain?

Your heavenly Father clearly told you not to worry - an anxious heart weighs a man down…

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is life not more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life. Matthew 6:25-27

Trust in Him at all times...pour out your hearts to him, for God is your refuge. Psalm 62:8

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. Isaiah 12:2

Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your soul. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34

I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

Worry wears you down, that's one of the reasons why Jesus told you not to do it.

Don't worry. Just refuse to do it.

Worry makes it hard to hear God. John Paul jackson says that worry is like

"putting in spiritual earplugs that keep you deaf to and unaffected by the thing that should affect you the most. Hearing God's voice is like being rescued from drowning. It's like being called into the boss’ office and unexpectedly given a substantial raise. In a moment, it seems that all your dreams have been realized, and you know in your heart that no matter what happens, you will live happily ever after, because God is good and He is in control.

Do you believe that? When you let go of worry and live in peace this can be your experience.

The alternative is to live afraid. If you are listening to man or paying too much attention to the news, you will lose sight of who God is, who you are and what your destiny is. If you give in and listen to worry, it will make you afraid.

Choose to let go of worry, remind yourself of who God is and what you have in Him. Rest in God, allow Him to comfort you with His presence.

You can't hear God clearly when you are worried. Let go of worry, allow God to fill you with his peace and rest in His arms. Then you will we be able to hear God more clearly. And when you can hear Him clearly, your hope will be restored.

God is good, trust Him, allow yourself to rest in Him and be at peace.

How To Hear God

Psalm 77
Copyright Eugene H. Peterson

I yell out to my God, I yell with all my might, I yell at the top of my lungs. He listens.

I found myself in trouble and went looking for my Lord;
my life was an open wound that wouldn't heal.
When friends said, "Everything will turn out all right,"
I didn't believe a word they said.
I remember God—and shake my head.
I bow my head—then wring my hands.
I'm awake all night—not a wink of sleep;
I can't even say what's bothering me.
I go over the days one by one,
I ponder the years gone by.
I strum my lute all through the night,
wondering how to get my life together.

Will the Lord walk off and leave us for good?
Will he never smile again?
Is his love worn threadbare?
Has his salvation promise burned out?
Has God forgotten his manners?
Has he angrily stalked off and left us?
"Just my luck," I said. "The High God goes out of business
just the moment I need him."

Once again I'll go over what God has done,
lay out on the table the ancient wonders;
I'll ponder all the things you've accomplished,
and give a long, loving look at your acts.

O God! Your way is holy!
No god is great like God!
You're the God who makes things happen;
you showed everyone what you can do—
You pulled your people out of the worst kind of trouble...
Now, remember all the amazing things God has done and give thanks for each one.

When things look impossible, remember the times when the Lord has brought you through. When you're facing difficult circumstances, remember how God has helped you before.

You will find that when you remind yourself of His many blessings it will give you courage to face the future with hope, knowing that all things work together for good to those who love God.
