5 Min Life Coach - Have You Asked Yourself These Questions?
January 10, 2013
Dear

YOU are amazing, yes YOU!

"If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.
If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.
He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He can live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.
What about the Christmas gift He sent you in Bethlehem; not to mention that Friday at Calvary.
Face it, friend. He's crazy about you." Max Lucado

This is what one of my trainees said:

"Thank you so much for such a valuable and priceless seminar. It was well worth - and above - the time sacrificed. You shared information and tips beyond expectation. You shared your own experience making it all so much more real and gave enough detail to make it all so logical.

Not being a techie, you helped to simplify a task that I have been avoiding. I am so grateful that I have the privilege of your support as you explain in such an easy-to-understand manner and above all with patience and a smile.

You are truly a blessing and the fact that you also add motivation to 'go for it!' and blessing for self-belief is a value-add that most others overlook. Thank you for sharing your wisdom."

It was such a blessing to receive heart felt feedback. Who will YOU encourage today?

Today's Coaching Moment - Did you make resolutions? How is it going?

RESOLUTION COACHING QUESTIONS FOR 2013

The fact is that for most of us, making New Year’s resolutions (with the best intentions of seeing them through) is easy. However, achieving those goals is unfortunately considerably more difficult. Try asking the following coaching questions to help design and manage personal goals.

  1. Have You Gone Overboard?

Instead of resolving to do something that is far too big to achieve, go small by aiming for your "major target" in minor increments.

  2. Do You Know Why?

It’s no use whatsoever to say that you want to accomplish something without knowing the underlying reason why. You can't change what you don't understand.

  3. What’s In It For You?

There is likely one overriding emotional "driver" that lies at the real core of your goal. It is absolutely essential that you identify this possible "concern" or possible "desire" before you start.

  4. Have You Counted The Cost Of This Endeavor?

Prepare yourself mentally for the focus, energy, and obstacles that are involved in this new journey. Preparing yourself ahead of time will take some of the "surprise" out of challenges.

  5. Can You Visualize And Understand The Outcome?

The fact is that if you set out with some vague notion of your desired change, you have little or no genuine motivation to achieve your goal. On the other hand, if you have a clear vision of how much improved your life will be, you are already a long way forward.

  6. Do You Believe You Can Accomplish It?

If you don’t believe that you can achieve something right now, the best way of overcoming your doubt is to take some form of action immediately. Get the ball rolling and keep moving because the more you do, the better you are and with improvement comes a growing belief that you can achieve it.

  7. Do You Have An Action Plan?

If you fail to plan, then you should plan to fail. In order to hit a target, you must have a target in the first place. Organize your resolution into a step-by-step process that includes measurements, deadlines, and accountability.

  8. Can You Find Challenge In The Challenge?

The point about any challenge is that it is not easy to overcome – if it were, it wouldn’t be a challenge. It’s a struggle sticking to your resolutions, and like any struggle, the rewards lie in overcoming the obstacles to win. Try to draw motivation from overcoming the difficulties that you encounter along the way.

  9. Do You Have A Fear Of Failure?

The fear of failure can make you take actions that almost guarantee failure. The solution lies in a shift of perception, an altered definition of what represents failing. In other words, failing TO actually do something needs to be more dreaded than failing WHILE doing something.

  10. Are You Prepared To Enjoy A Successful Outcome?

By definition, no-one knows the unknown. However, the key to being prepared to enjoy your success is exactly that... being prepared. Take some time to visualize all of the benefits of a successful outcome. Consider the changes in mindset and lifestyle that need to replace your present status in order to acco mmodate your new position.

  11. Do You Think You Deserve A Successful Outcome?

We must understand that attaining goals is NOT something that is granted to the lucky few. Everyone deserves success if they are willing to strive to get what they desire. However, you will experience some self-limiting thoughts along the way that need to be challenged as untrue. Make a list of these negative beliefs and dispute them.

  12. Are You Prepared For Setbacks?

There will be unpleasant setbacks and you need to get used to the idea now. If you are not prepared, such "surprise" challenges can very easily throw you off your chosen course. They can represent significant obstacles and if you have no mental plan to accept and deal with such events, it is easy for your efforts to grind to a halt.

  13. Have You Prioritized and Committed?

You must decide exactly what is most important to you and place what you are trying to achieve into the most appropriate position in your priorities. You must also decide that you are going to see this thing through no matter what. Intentionally plan to persevere in order to give your goal a fighting chance to succeed.

Use this information to identify and analyze the reasons why so many people fail to achieve something that they (almost certainly) really desire, you should begin to recognize that there is plenty that you can do to overcome any difficulties that might hold you back.

To achieve your objectives, the main thing that you must do is get yourself into the right frame of mind to accept, be comfortable with and enjoy achieving your success. Once you are completely comfortable with the idea of attaining your objectives, it becomes far easier to apply the willpower and to put in the effort needed to get where you want to go.

Here's to your success in 2013!

Set time aside to ponder and answer these questions, then set specific goals and create a detailed step by step plan. And do find someone to make yourself accountable to for achieving your goals. This is crucial to your success.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3
