My husband is still without a job... it's been 2 years now... yet we have many things to be thankful for, not least the safe arrival of our newest granddaughter.

Tim being home has been beneficial to all our children and to me and the friends he keeps a pastoral eye on. Being out of work hasn't been easy but it seems to be part of God's grand design, the benefits are clear to see.

The Lord has made it abundantly clear that He wants me to re-order my priorities again.

I have become busy doing many GOOD things, and God is reminding me...

"Put your relationship with me first"

So, I am laying aside many of the things that have kept me busy and going back to giving the Lord FIRST place in my life. I hope that you'll join me.

I don't believe God wants us to do more FOR Him, He is much more interested in us spending more time WITH Him.... the best kind of doing flows out of BEING with Him.

I am the vine, and you are the branches. He who abides in Me and I in him, bears much fruit; without Me you can do nothing.

Our heavenly Father wants us to CHOOSE to be with Him MORE of the time. He longs for us to choose to spend more of our day with Him.

I strongly encourage you to become more closely connected then stay closely connected, because without God you can do nothing of any lasting value.

If you want to grow in God, and hear the words, "Well done good and faithful servant," you can no longer settle for giving Him second or third or fourth place. I encourage you to make friendship with God your FIRST priority.

• What will you start to do differently to make sure that God gets His rightful place?

• What will you do less of?

• What will you do more of?

I'm reinstating spending the first part of the day with God. For me, that means meditating on His word, listening for God's voice, valuing what I hear enough to write it down, and asking,

• "Father, what are the most import things for me to do today?"

• Father, what does today look like for YOUR perspective?

When we connect with GOD, allow Him to speak in, and draw our comfort and strength from Him, struggles, and fears, and worries dissolve.

EVERYTHING we need is in HIM. So, let Him be your everything. When you do, everything changes.

Believe GOD!

Take Him at his word.

"Cast all your cares, all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all, on Him, for He cares about you with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully." 1 Peter 5:7 AMP
