🌿Fear is sneaky. It disguises itself as wisdom, caution, or even responsibility.
February 13, 2025
Have you ever felt like fear was holding you back from something you knew God was calling you to do?

Maybe you ve felt a nudge to step out, or had a dream stirring in your heart—but fear crept in with all the what ifs.

  • What if I fail?
  • What if I’m not good enough?
  • What if I step out and it doesn’t work?

Fear is sneaky. It often disguises itself as wisdom, caution, or even responsibility. It whispers doubts and magnifies our weaknesses, keeping us frozen in place when God is calling us forward.

Fear is not from God

If fear has been keeping you stuck, take heart—God hasn’t called you to live in hesitation. He wants you to step into the life He has planned for you, with faith, not fear.

In 2 Timothy 1:7, Paul reminds us of this powerful truth: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."

Think about that for a moment. The spirit of fear doesn’t come from God—so if it’s not from Him, we don't have to accept it. Instead, God has given us:

✅ Power – The strength and ability to do what He calls us to do.

✅ Love – The assurance that we are deeply loved by Him, which gives us courage.

✅A Sound Mind – Peace, clarity, and the ability to make wise, faith-filled decisions.

Fear wants to paralyse you, but faith will propel you forward.

And the best part? Faith doesn't mean never feeling afraid. It means choosing to trust God even when you do.

How fear holds us back from God's best

Fear manifests in different ways:

🔹 Procrastination: We delay taking action because we feel unprepared.

🔹 Perfectionism: We hesitate to move forward because we don’t feel “good enough.”

🔹 Overthinking: We analyze every possible outcome, waiting for absolute certainty.

🔹 Avoidance: We say “it's not the right time” and convince ourselves to wait.

But the reality is, if we wait until we feel ready, we may never move forward.

That's why faith is about acting in obedience even when fear is present. When we take even a small step forward, we show God that we're trusting Him—and He meets us there with His strength.

An invitation to confront fear

This week, I challenge you to identify one fear that's been holding you back and take a small step of faith to confront it.

đź“ť Action step: identify & confront one fear

  1. Ask yourself: What fear has been keeping me from stepping into something God has for me?

  2. Write it down. Bringing it into the light takes away its power.

  3. Pray over it. Ask God for boldness and peace.

  4. Take one small step forward. It doesn't have to be big—just one act of faith.

Maybe it's reaching out to someone, applying for a job, sharing your testimony, or saying yes to an opportunity that feels bigger than you.

Whatever it is, trust that God will be with you as you step forward.

A Prayer for You

Father, I thank You that fear has no power over me because I belong to You. Today, I surrender my fears and doubts to You. Fill my heart with boldness and remind me that You have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Strengthen my faith, help me to trust You more, and give me the courage to step into the opportunities You have placed before me. I choose to walk by faith, not fear. In Jesus’ name, Amen."

What happens when you choose faith?

Imagine if, instead of asking What if I fail?, you started asking What if God moves in ways I never imagined? What if the very thing you’re afraid of is the doorway to the next level of faith, purpose, and fulfillment? When you step forward in faith, even in small ways, you will:

🌱 Grow in confidence – Not because of your ability, but because of God’s strength in you.

🌱 See new opportunities – Doors open when we’re willing to step out.

🌱 Experience God’s provision – As you take a step, He meets you there.

🌱 Deepen your relationship with God – Faith is built in the moments we trust Him.

So, what is one step of faith you can take this week?

  • What fear will you surrender to God today?
  • What small step of faith will you take this week?

With love and encouragement,

Lynne
