🌟 Making space for what matters most this Christmas🎄 December 18, 2024 |
Jesus loves you way more than you know. As Christmas approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of last-minute shopping, family gatherings, and endless to-do lists. Christmas can be a mix of joy and exhaustion—moments of celebration intertwined with stress! In the rush to get everything done, it's easy to lose sight of the heart of Christmas. But what if this year was different? What if we made intentional space for what matters most? What Matters MostChristmas isn't about perfect gifts, flawless meals, or meticulously planned gatherings. It's about celebrating the greatest gift ever given: Jesus. With all the busyness, are we making space for Jesus in our hearts and homes? Are we focusing on the things that really matter—faith, love, joy, and connection? How to Make Space for What Matters MostHere are some simple ways you can slow down and intentionally focus on what matters most this Christmas:
How can you share His love with someone this week? This might look like:
A Christmas PrayerHeavenly Father,Thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus—the greatest gift we could ever receive. As we celebrate His birth, we are reminded of the depth of Your love and the hope that His coming brings to our lives and the world. Lord, during this season, many of us feel the weight of different emotions. For some, Christmas is a time of joy and togetherness, but for others, it can be a time of stress, loneliness, or a sense of loss. We pray for those who feel overwhelmed by the demands of this Christmas—the shopping, the planning, the gatherings. Help them to pause and rest in Your presence, knowing that You are the source of true peace. Remind us all that the heart of Christmas isn't found in perfect plans, but in the perfect love of Christ. We pray for people missing loved ones this Christmas, whether through distance or loss. Comfort their hearts, Lord, and remind them of Your promise to be near the brokenhearted. Surround them with Your love and bring moments of joy and hope into their days. We pray for those facing financial struggles, health challenges, or strained relationships. Lord, You are our provider, healer, and reconciler. Meet them in their needs and show them Your faithfulness. Fill their hearts with a renewed sense of trust and hope in You. Father, help us all to embrace the gift of this season—not the gifts under the tree, but the gift of Your presence in our lives. Help us to slow down, reflect on Your goodness, and share Your love with the people around us. May we be a light, reflecting the peace, joy, and hope that Jesus brings. As we gather with family and friends, guide our conversations and interactions. Let our homes be filled with grace and kindness, and may forgiveness flow freely where it's needed. Help us to cherish these moments, no matter how imperfect they may seem. Finally, Lord, we ask that You prepare our hearts to receive Jesus anew. Just as the shepherds and wise men came to worship Him so long ago, may we come with hearts full of awe and gratitude for the Saviour who came to bring us life. We give You all the glory this Christmas and beyond. May our lives reflect Your love, and may we carry the light of Christ into the new year with faith and joy. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. I'll be in touch again after Christmas with thoughts and encouragement as we look toward the new year with hope and purpose. For now, I pray that you take a few moments to soak in the peace of this season, savour the amazing beauty of God's love for you, and remember that the greatest gift has already been given.
